-The Source announces that they’re bringing back -The Source announces that they’re bringing back the hip-hop awards in 2022 and launching “the Netflix of hip-hop.” Source Magazine remains one of the most iconic hip-hop publications of all-time and one of the most important during its growth in the 90s. The launch of its annual award show was equally important for the culture, especially since hip-hop wasn’t getting the recognition it truly deserves from these prestigious institutions. The award show ran from 1994 to 2004, providing a few of hip-hop’s most iconic and controversial moments. According to PageSix, the Source Awards plans on making its triumphant return in 2022 after 17 years. Prince’s longtime manager L. Londell McMillian revealed that he’ll be helping bring it back “by popular demand.” “Hip-hop needs its premiere awards show back,” McMillian said. “After every awards show, our social media at The Source explodes … so back by popular demand.” Additionally, McMillian also plans on launching a streaming channel which they’re describing as “the Netflix of hip-hop.” The Source has continuously remained a controversial publication over the years. A rep for the Source explained that the Source has been quietly gearing up to have a proper launch in the digital era. “It’s finally black-owned for the first time. He has quietly been bringing it back from financial disrepair and catapulting it into the digital age, tripling its reach and cleaning up its act,” a rep for the publication said. -The Sheriff overseeing the investigation into the -The Sheriff overseeing the investigation into the Tiger Woods car crash says he will NOT face criminal charges over the incident — calling it a pure “accident.” Sheriff Alex Villanueva took questions from the media on Wednesday — and when asked directly if Tiger would face a reckless driving charge, he said, “No.” “This is purely an accident,” Sheriff Villanueva said … explaining there is no evidence showing the 45-year-old was under the influence of any substance when he drove his vehicle off a cliff in Palos Verdes, CA on Tuesday. There is a chance Woods could be hit with an infraction if investigators determine he was using his cell phone when he lost control — or was otherwise distracted behind the wheel — but it’s a big difference from being charged with a crime. “We do not contemplate any charges whatsoever in this crash,” Villanueva added … “This remains an accident. An accident is not a crime.” As we previously reported, Deputy Carlos Gonzalez — the first person to respond to the crash scene — says Tiger seemed lucid and sober in the moments after the accident. Officials say they did not take a blood sample from Tiger to test for substances because there were no obvious signs of impairment. Sheriff Villanueva also confirmed investigators have still not retrieved a “black box” from the SUV Tiger was driving — a device that could show investigators how fast the vehicle was traveling at the time of the incident. Tiger was arrested for DUI in Florida in 2017 after officers found him passed out behind the wheel of his car. “WORD ON THE STREETZ” with @mzshyneka DaBaby “WORD ON THE STREETZ” with @mzshyneka DaBaby is involved in yet another lawsuit after an alleged assault during a video shoot. —————————— Gary Pagar, the owner of a vacation rental home in Runyon Canyon, California, is suing DaBaby after the rapper allegedly stole his phone and assaulted him in December 2020. ——————————— According to reports from Variety, Pagar claims that the Carolina rapper rented the home under the condition that he would only have 12 people on site, a requirement that was put in place to keep in line with COVID-19 regulations. When it came time for the video shoot, DaBaby brought 40 people to the home, violating the lease agreement. The lease also claims that the property can’t be used for commercial purposes.———————————— When Pagar showed up at the property to try to shut the shoot down, he was met with opposition from an unknown assailant. Then, he alleges that the rapper got out of the car and chased him into the house. Pager claims that DaBaby warned him to not call the police and punched him in the mouth, knocking out a tooth and leaving him bloody. The home owner goes on to state that he was spat on and that he was being taunted by the assailants playing catch with his stolen phone. ——————————— When another person called the police, DaBaby and his associates were forced to flee. According to the lawsuit, the rapper took Pager’s phone and “valuable kitchenware” when they left the premises. “WORD ON THE STREETZ” with @mzshyneka Bobby “WORD ON THE STREETZ” with @mzshyneka Bobby Shmurda was reportedly released from New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility on Tuesday morning (February 23) after serving roughly six years behind bars. According to TMZ, he walked out of prison around 8:30 a.m. local time, 10 months ahead of his scheduled release date. ———————————- The 26-year-old Brooklyn native had his conditional release date moved up by the prison’s Time Allowance Committee, which made its decision after reviewing his behavior and participation in prison programs. However, Shmurda will remain on parole until 2026. ————————————- The “Hot N-gga” rapper was arrested in 2014 but copped a plea deal in September 2016 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess weapons and possession of a weapon for his involvement in the GS9 gang. He was initially sentenced to seven years but was granted two years credit before the sentence was handed down. ————————————— While locked up, he racked up 11 violations, including possession of a prison shiv, drug possession and fighting. Last month, The New York Times reported Shmurda was finally eligible for conditional release despite being denied parole in September after authorities saw a vast improvement in his behavior. ————————————————- Fellow GS9 rapper Rowdy Rebel was released from prison in December 2020. Migos rapper Quavo recently revealed he was scheduled to pick up Shmurda from prison and tweeted how excited he was to celebrate with Rowdy. “My first time seeing my dog rowdy rebel tonight!!!!!” he wrote on Monday night (February 22).
