THE VICTIMS WERE DROPPED OFF AT WAFFLE HOUSE!
Investigators are searching for the suspect, or suspects, who shot two people, killing one of them and leaving the other in critical condition.
Brookhaven police were called to the Waffle House along Clairmont Road when a car carrying two people stopped at the restaurant and called police around 3 p.m. to say two people had been shot.
Police said arrest warrants have been issued for 34-year-old Pierre Singletary. He is described as a black man, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 170 pounds. Maj. Brandon Gurley, with the Brookhaven Police Department, said once detectives learned where the shooting happened, they called the North Metro SWAT Unit, which is made up of several area police departments, to the apartment. Maj. Brandon Gurley, with the Brookhaven Police Department, said that it was unclear if anyone was inside the apartment. The SWAT team began evacuating the apartments surrounding the unit while it waited for a search warrant to be issued.
Once a search warrant was obtained, they used flash-bang grenades and a robot to go inside the apartment.
“I come out and see an entire army here,” one neighbor told Johnson, asking not to be identified. “It wasn’t no battering ram or nothing, it was serious, like they detonated a bomb.”
Gurley said when officers went into the apartment, they found no one was inside.
“No one is in custody and we do not have suspect information that we have uncovered yet,” Gurley said.
Investigators said they found evidence that a shooting had taken place inside the apartment. Gurley said there were no immediate signs of any forced entry into the apartment.
Police have not identified any suspects in the shooting and said they are working to determine a motive.
Investigators have not yet released the names of the victims.
