A woman’s car was damaged after shots were fired outside the iconic Cascade Skating Rink early Monday morning, police said.
The woman, Shenika Brown, told AJC.com that she was leaving the roller rink about 12:15 a.m. when she heard the gunfire.
“My friend is telling me to ‘Duck, duck, run, please run,’” Brown said. “We’re ducking as we’re running across the street.”
When she got to her car, which was parked at a Texaco gas station across the street from Cascade, she found a window shot out and a bullet hole in the passenger door.
The skating rink, located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in southwest Atlanta, is an Atlanta nightlife staple known for being the backdrop of the 2006 movie “ATL,” starring rappers T.I. and Big Boi.
No injuries were reported in the overnight shooting, according to a police report obtained Monday by AJC.com.
Brown told police that she saw a black Nissan Maxima drive away, possibly carrying the shooter. Officers tracked down the car and detained five people who were inside, but they were released after no weapons were found inside, according to the report.
