The New Year may bring in some new rules for scooter riders. One of the changes would prohibit riding scooters on the sidewalks, just like bikes and cars. City leaders are set to vote on new rules on Monday. Another possible change includes limiting riders to only one person per scooter. There could be new fees and fines for scooter companies if they block the curb cuts for wheelchairs and are not parked out of the way for pedestrians. The new rules also suggest the riders wear a helmet. If the council passes the rules, they will go into effect on Monday evening.
