According to reports, the Alabama mall shooting that left 21-year-old Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr. dead at the hands of police fire was a result of three fatal gunshots wounds to the back. Bradford’s family commissioned an independent autopsy which revealed that “EJ” posed no threat at the time of the shooting.
The autopsy showed gunshot wounds to the back of the man’s head, neck, and back. During a news conference, the Bradford family lawyer, Ben Crump, stated, “The evidence corroborates the testimony of multiple witnesses who said EJ was trying to help others,” adding, “The findings are devastating and heartbreaking to EJ’s family, compounding the shattering impact of this unnecessary and unwarranted killing.”
Hoover Alabama police say they do not intend on releasing officer body cam footage or other evidence until the completion of the state investigation. The officer that shot Bradford, whose name has not been disclosed, is currently on administrative leave.
