Wale split from his deal with Atlantic Records just a few months ago, and now the Maybach Music Group lyricist has inked a deal with Warner Bros.
Wale’s last three albums were released through MMG/Atlantic Records, and the “Negotiations” rapper is also signed to his own imprint, Every Blue Moon.
Wale and Warner Bros. Records announced the signing at the Crustacean restaurant in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. Wale was joined by Warner Music Group CEO Stephen Cooper, Warner Bros. co-chairman/COO Tom Corson, and MMG founder Rick Ross, among a list of other high profile businessmen.
According to Billboard, Corson stated, “I am delighted that Wale has joined Warner Bros. Records. He is a pillar in the hip-hop community and beyond; with his cultural relevance and lyrical prose, he continues to elevate the game. Wale is truly a force to be reckoned with and we look forward to a successful partnership for years to come.”
“This is an exciting step for me,” explained Wale. “I am thrilled to be at a company that is willing to showcase my artistry, while supporting my entrepreneurial spirit. I felt their passion, commitment, and enthusiasm from day one. They believed in my vision wholeheartedly, and I am ready to show and prove.” He is expected to release an album later this year.
