PRETTY BOY FLOYD OWES
Floyd Mayweather is currently gearing up for his major fight against UFC fighter Conor McGregor. However, the boxer still has one more fight to face with the IRS. According to reports, a $3.4 million dollar lien against the boxer was released, but he still owes $29 million in back taxes. The IRS filed a lien release that was originally filed in 2011 against Mayweather for $3.4 million. According to the IRS, Mayweather refused to pay the 2009 taxes on $9.4 million, which is what he earned after fighting against Juan Marquez.
Previously in April 2017, Mayweather was issued another federal tax lien for $22.2 million. That came from his major 2015 fight with Manny Pacquiao, in which he scored millions of dollars. Shortly after being hit with the lien, Mayweather filed for a temporary reprieve in tax court so that he could receive more time to pay. According to the boxer, he did not have enough cash on hand at the time.
Mayweather also owes $7.2 million from 2010, which brings the total amount of money owed to the IRS to $29.4 million
