“I DON’T EVEN WANT THEM BECAUSE IT FEELS WEIRD FOR SOME REASON!!”
Artist Drake recently won two Grammys for his hit song “Hotline Bling.” Drake won the category for Best Rap/Song Performance and Best Rap Song. Drake did not attend the Grammys and did not pick up his awards.
In the latest interview episode on OVO, Drake addressed his issues he had with the Grammys.
Drake stated, “Even though ‘Hotline Bling’ is not a rap song, the only category they can manage to fit me in is a rap category … Maybe because I’ve rapped in the past or because I’m black, I can’t figure out why. I won two awards, but I don’t even want them because it just feels weird for some reason.”
Drake was set to win a Grammy for his hit song “One Dance.” The hit stayed at the top of the Billboard charts for majority of 2016.
“There’s pop obligations they have, and I fluked out. I fluked out and got one of the biggest songs of the year that is a pop song and I’m proud of that. I love the rap world and I love the rap community… I write pop songs for a reason. I want to be like Michael Jackson. I want to be like artists that I looked up to. Those are pop songs, but I never get any credit for that,” Drake stated.
The artist felt snub. Beyonce’ also felt the same way by posting pictures of herself flicking off the camera.
Boycott the Grammys might be a hashtag for next year ceremony.
