THE JUMPMAN AND 20 OTHER WILL BE HONORED BUT FOR WHAT?
After celebrating the 20 year anniversary of the release of his hit movie Space Jam, Basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan was among 20 other names that President Obama announced today to receive the Medal of Freedom. This is the highest civilian honor awarded by a sitting president.
Also joining the Jumpman is, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bruce Springsteen, Bill and Melinda Gates, Tom Hanks, Robert De Niro, and Ellen DeGeneres among others.
Michael Jordan recently made millions of dollars’ worth of donations this year in an effort to reform social injustices.
“The Presidential Medal of Freedom is not just our highest civilian honor. It’s a tribute to the idea that all of us, no matter where we come from, have an opportunity to change this country for the better,” said President Obama, “From scientists, philanthropists and public servants to activists, athletes and artists, these 21 individuals have helped push America forward, inspiring millions of people around the world along the way.”
Michael Jordan and the other 20 recipients have been invited to the White House on November 22nd to receive their medals.
