DO YOU THINK HE HAS A SHOT?!
A video was released on Wednesday of Rice training for a potential return and reported that “multiple teams” have reached out to him.
In the video, Rice does a variety of strength, agility and balance exercises. He appears to still possess NFL-caliber quickness and hand-eye coordination, as he works his way through the drills with ease.
Rice, 29, has not appeared in a game since December 29, 2013. The following offseason, he was caught on camera knocking out his then-fiancée, now-wife Janay Palmer in an elevator at a casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. His suspension was bungled by the league, and the ensuing controversy resulted in Rice becoming the face of the NFL’s domestic violence issue.
The league has put in a lot of public relations work to repair it’s image, and a Rice comeback would likely undo some of that progress. Few teams would be willing to take on the media firestorm, even though the embattled running back has pledged his entire 2016 salary to domestic violence prevention and support groups.
